Get Excited! Kiarra Jones - Round 4 Recap

Round 4 of the NSW Formula Ford Championship was held on the North Druitt Circuit at Sydney Motorsport Park on 12th August 2023.

Friday Practice was Kiarra's first time driving on the Druitt Circuit layout.

Practice 1 was spent getting familiar with the car and track configuration.

Practice 2 Kiarra began working on improving her lap times

Practice 3 The track lights came on at Sydney Motorsport park which added a new and exciting complexity for Kiarra to master. The conditions made it interesting and it felt a lot different to running in the daytime.

Friday Practice was made extra special for Kiarra when an anonymous person left a gift in her helmet. It was a sum of money and accompanying note which read:

"Hi Kiarra, thank you for being a wonderful representative for the Stewart McCole Award. You are a wonderful ambassador for Motorsport. Never Give Up!"

Qualifying took place just before midday on Saturday but Kiarra made contact with the tyre wall. Luckily there wasn't too much damage caused and the Team managed to get the car back up and running in under 2 hours!

Race 1 Kiarra settled back into her rhythm and had didn't let the incident in qualifying dampen her confidence.

Race 2 Kiarra found a lot more pace and made some great overtakes on some very experienced drivers.

Race 3 commenced under lights and Kiarra once again made some impressive overtakes. She duelled it out with for the whole Race and managed to bring the car home in 3rd! A great result after her incident in Qualifying and a testament to her hard work and never give up attitude.

After the weekend was said and done, Kiarra retained her 2nd place in the  Championship Standing with only 1 x Race remaining for the season.
